Khudi workshop in Swat

In collaboration with Pakistan Youth Alliance (PYA) and Innovative Youth Front Swat, Khudi Head Trainer Imran Khan and Syed Ali Abbas Zaidi, Khudi CEC member, organised a counter-extremism workshop and street theatre performance for youth activists in Mingora. This was the first time the Khudi team visited Swat, and the reception from young people there was very encouraging.

International Youth Conference & Festival

The Khudi team, in collaboration with events firm Miradore Productions, has been busy preparing for the annual International Youth Conference & Festival (IYCF) to be held in October this year. The IYCF gathers activists and change makers from across Pakistan and around the world to build relationships of mutual trust and understanding between young Pakistanis and their international counterparts. As the date for the event grows nearer, we are gearing up to welcome 300 young delegates and an amazing line-up of speakers to Islamabad. Please visit www.iycfpakistan.com for more information.

Talk at IPSS, Lahore
Khudi founder Maajid Nawaz gave a talk at the Institute of Peace and Secular Studies (IPSS) in Lahore on September 24 as part of a series of talks entitled “Tracing the Roots of Religious Extremism”. The talk was attended by students, academics and activists from the city. Sharing his own experiences as a former global leader of an extremist organisation and analyzing the ideological roots of religious extremism, Maajid shed light on the factors that play an important role in the radicalisation of the youth and underscored the importance of propagating a counter-narrative.
Maajid Nawaz Speaks at Kuch Khaas in Islamabad
Maajid Nawaz gave a talk on September 28 at Kuch Khaas in Islamabad. In his talk entitled “A Global Culture to Fight Extremism”, Maajid spoke about how extremist organizations use ideas, narratives and modern technology to spread their message across the globe and to recruit people from different countries. He said that extremism can be countered in Muslim-majority countries through social movements that build understanding and support for democratic culture and pluralism on a grassroots level.
Third Issue of Laaltain is Out!
The 3rd issue of the Laaltain magazine hit campuses and newsstands this month. This issue celebrates ‘Faiz Year’ and pays homage to Faiz Ahamad Faiz’s poetic and political struggle. It also highlights some key issues in connection with the Arab uprisings and features interviews of two prominent journalists – Fasi Zaka and Wajahat Masood – along with several insightful contributions by young people across Pakistan.
